A Pizza Party on Southwest Airlines

One of the things I enjoy the most about working for this Company is that I am constantly blown away by the actions of our Employees—especially when dealing with adverse circumstances.  Recently, I received a call from the ABC affiliate in Denver asking about one of our Flight Crews who served pizza to our Customers on a flight last week from Ft. Lauderdale to Denver.  The flight was diverted to Pueblo, Colorado, due to weather in Denver.

Upon hearing the news that the flight would have to wait two hours to depart to Denver, our Flight Crew contacted the folks at the Pueblo Airport to order Little Ceaser’s pizza for our Customers, had it delivered to the aircraft, and then personally served the pizza while they waited for the weather in Denver to clear so they could depart.  While our Customers weren’t thrilled about the delay, which was beyond our control, they appreciated the gesture so much that they contacted the local news in Denver upon their arrival to brag about how our Flight Crew made a lasting impression on them in the face of an adverse set of circumstances.

To read the resulting media story and see a slideshow, visit: http://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/23620842/detail.html

Just another example of how our People make the difference for our Customers.  Only at Southwest would our Employees turn a diversion and delay into a pizza party.

WoW! Where else would you get a dedicated crew that can also handle pizza deliveries? :o) It's nice to hear a positive story about the good things that happen when your flight is delayed, rather than those horror stories of people being stuck on a plane with no water or toilet breaks... ... go Southwest! I was on that flight from Ft Laud. to Denver. The crew is to be commended for their professionalism and kindness on how they handled the passagers. The Capt. kept us informed on the situtation and ordered pizza for the whole plane. The Capt and crew went row to row making sure everyone had a slice. I wish they worked for me ! I work for a city that won the National Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award for customer service, the only city to ever win this prestigious award. Southwest far exceeded my expectations that day ! I am a Southwest fan for life! Thank you to the crew for feeding us and most important getting us there safely !

Southwest helped me out of a jam Sunday when United unexpectedly cancelled all their flights from Kansa City to Chicago however I have yet to get a confirmation for the flight for expense purposes. Unfortunately I also left my Ipad on the 5010 that terminated in Columbus OH Sunday. When I noticed that it was missing, I immediately called and reported it and have a lost and found ticket open with Southwest. I have yet to hear if it was found and I left my information with a supervisor at Kansas City when I returned Tuesday evening, during the heat of the outage. I am still waiting for a call or email.
