It’s the most wonderful time of the year!

Nestled in the heart of Downtown Denver lies a Southwest Airlines winter wonderland; from the holiday music to the bistro lights over the ice, to the lighted holiday trees and the Southwest-painted Zamboni, the Southwest Rink at Skyline Park truly embodies the SPIRIT of the holidays.

The above holiday tune rang throughout Skyline Park this past weekend as the Denver Figure Skating Club took to the ice, kicking off our opening day festivities.  Rink visitors sipped on hot cocoa from the neighboring Southwest Porch and were gifted with yellow SWA scarves passed out by our Denver-based Southwest Employees who joined the celebration—some even took to the ice in their uniforms!

Once the skaters finished their performance, the SWA-branded Zamboni cleared the ice and was positioned center-rink for our opening day presentation.  Denver Mayor Michael B. Hancock, City Councilman Albus Brooks and his family, and Downtown Denver Partnership Vice President of Events Susan Rogers Kark, spoke on the positive effects of the Rink on Downtown Denver and thanked Southwest for our contributions to the Community.

Over the opening day weekend, there were more than 2,500 skaters, a DJ on opening night, 283 kids who skated for FREE during the 12 and under free skate Sunday, and Dueling pianos on Sunday afternoon!
