This weekend, Southwest Airlines salutes Father's Day and our 39th birthday on June 18, and Michelle tells how our Customers can join the party.

They Say It’s Our Birthday!

Can you believe we’re celebrating 39 years of service?!  Our Employees strive to make Southwest Airlines FUN for our Customers, and we would like to celebrate our birthday with YOU on Friday, June 18. Southwest Airlines and Coca Cola have joined forces to provide SWA/Coke Zero branded bookmarks for our Flight Crews to pass out to our Customers along with an in-flight complimentary beverage of your choice to celebrate our birthday.

So Happy Birthday, Southwest!  Enjoy the celebration: here’s to many more!

A Salute to Dad!

Hat’s off to you, Dad!  Whether you’re a Father, Grandfather, Uncle, or all of the above, this is your day to kick back and relax, on a Southwest flight, we hope!

In celebration of all the Dads out there, Southwest Airlines has partnered with Dockers and Kohl’s on a national sweepstakes, “The Ultimate Sports Journey.”  The grand prize is 12 all-expense-paid trips for two to a major sporting event every month in 2011, with flights provided by Southwest Airlines. The sweepstakes ends June 20, 2010.  To enter, text “Dockers” to 36105, or visit dockerssportsfan.com to enter for your chance to win and for complete contest rules!

To support the Ultimate Sports Journey sweepstakes and to acknowledge our “Dad Customers” for Father’s Day, promotional cards will be distributed in various Southwest Cities on Friday, June 18 and Saturday, June 19, to encourage entry in the sweepstakes.  In addition to the promo cards, in those cities there will be coupons for a free pair of Dockers pants for our Employees to pass out to our “Dad Customers.”

And for our Customers flying home to see their dad over the weekend, our Flight Crews will have Hallmark cards onhand to pass out on Friday, June 18, for those who may have forgotten to buy their card.  Our “Dad Customers” will also be treated to a complimentary adult beverage on Father’s Day, June 20.

To all the Dads out there, we salute you!

I am glad Southwest thinks they are trying to make this a happy Father's Day weekend. Well I am one who an complete horrified by the incompetence and inability to do anything right at SouthWest in the baggage department. I have a red bag that was lost for 7 days. I called the main line on the seventh day after it was lost, and they said to file a claim. I then got a call from the Las Vegas office and was told they had my bag and it was sitting down there for a few days and needed to be picked up. This was on Monday. I could not get down there until Wednesday morning. When I got there, I was told the bag was lost still, and I needed to follow a claim. I was given a cold shoulder when I asked for a credit voucher, and the older lady that worked there said they do not give credit vouchers to locals, only people traveling. I had just driven 40 minutes in traffic to be told it was still lost? My bag was lost and out of inconvenience I should have gotten the voucher no matter if I am a local or visiting. She finally gave me the voucher but only to get me out of the office, as she seemed to hate her job and definitely not want to help me out at all. How does the office there not know that they sent a bag to Dallas? There is no excuse for this horrible customer service. Today I got a call from the Southwest Baggage Claim office saying they have my bag, but I need to pay for shipping from Dallas. Really? Is that so. I cannot believe how ridiculous this whole process has been, wasting hours of my time. A loyal customer to Southwest, is now finding that you get what you pay for. Cheap airfare I guess equals horrible service. I mean the worse service I have ever experienced in any industry. We spend thousands of dollars a year flying SouthWest and I hope it was possibly losing a customer was worth this ordeal to lose my bag, find it, say it was lost still, and find it at the central baggage warehouse. If I ran my business like this, I would have no customers. Your customer service on a scale of 1 to 10 is a -5. I hope this message does not fall on deaf ears and someone sees the need to fix this issue with baggage. Customer service is the only thing your airline has besides cheap prices, and if there is horrible service, then I guess I will have to pay a little more at another airline to get it. - Horribly Disappointed SouthWest Customer

I just learned today your Southwest flights for January 2011 out of Long Island, New York have stops. There are no non stop flights!! What gives, the Long Island to Las Vegas flights were always full and now we have to book a flight that will take over nine hours before arrival in Las Vegas. Hope I don't have to look for another airline ={
