Well, tonight’s the big two-hour finale of Hell’s Kitchen, where we’ll see which chef Gordon Ramsay picks to run Araxi Restaurant in Whistler. The season’s flown by! It seems like just a few weeks ago that Kymberli and I were in L.A. for the taping of the season premiere, crying over spilled shrimp.

Since then, we’ve watched Dallas’ own Van Hurd fight his way into the top six; Joseph try to pick a fight with Chef Ramsay; and almost everyone else fight back tears. Along the way, my hubby Pete became a Hell’s Kitchen convert, going through withdrawal between Tuesday nights.  In fact, he’s on a mission to find Van’s restaurant the next time we’re in Big D.

Over the season, I’ve also appreciated the heart-warming aspects of this take-no-prisoners competition: Chef Ramsay and friends organizing a surprise homecoming for a military hero, feeding hungry firemen, introducing kids to haute cuisine, and even picking up trash along the freeway. Hey, I’d pick up trash too for a handmade lunch by Chef Nobu!   If you've been watching all season, you probably saw a cameo by our very favorite airline, Southwest, as we flew the chefs to Las Vegas.

We want to thank Kym’s brother, Hell’s Kitchen Executive Producer Kent Weed, for taking the time to answer questions from our Southwest blog readers. (It’s funny to think that this all happened because Kym and I met years ago to work on Southwest’s battle against the Wright Amendment.)  And we’d also like to thank our readers for their great questions and support of the show.

In fact, we’re going to reward one of you with the ‘BIG SURPRISE’ I promised before:

Post a comment below (or via Twitter using the hashtag #hkswa or Southwest Airlines Facebook page) by 6:00 p.m. CT tonight letting us know who you think should win tonight’s finale and why. The person with our favorite answer will win two roundtrip tickets on Southwest; enjoy two VIP passes to a dinner taping of Season 8’s Hell’s Kitchen (complete with pickup from LAX by HK); and…drum roll…you might even meet Chef Gordon Ramsay!

UPDATE: Folks, a winner has been picked! Please stay tuned while we figure out the details. The person and their winning entry will be announced here soon!

Good luck, post your pick, and stay tuned to see if you’re the lucky winner!  The winner will be announced here tomorrow!

In the words of Gordon Ramsay, "May the best chef win!"

The winner should definitely be Kevin. He's been the most consistent of all the chefs. He's talented, and despite a temporary inability to cook rice correctly, he seems like the one who'd handle a restaurant best.

I think Dave should win because he's been the most consistent with only one hand. The two-handers in the group can't match his technique. He should win and then b*tch slap the other two with his bad hand. Make a point, you know.

It's gotta be Ariel...Dave does not seem to know what he is cooking half the time and Keith thinks he is God's gift to cooking....but can't cook rice. Seriously, all of the cooks have screwed up, but even I can cook rice.

Dave!! He's a fighter. Any normal person would have given in to the pain. But he's persevered and made it to the top 3! If he can succeed with one arm on Hell's Kitchen, he can do ANYTHING!! Go Dave!! And good luck to all three contestants, they all are worthy competitors. 😉

As a Hell's Kitchen and Gordon Ramsay fanatic, I can honestly say that Dave is the most talented and motivated chef to ever grace that red and blue arena of doom. Dave, with one arm, has cooked circles around the competition and has so much determination, I would be comfortable flying on Southwest with him as my captain. Dave's passion for quality, consistency, and holding his standards high make him my choice as winner for this year.

Dave should win. He has withstood the "HEAT IN THE KITCHEN".

I hope that DAVID is the winner of Hell's Kitchen tonight! I think David exudes the fight and fervor that Chef Ramsey is looking for to be head chef of the restaurant in Whistler, British Columbia. David has been fighting through excruciating pain from damage to his wrist earlier in the show and he has continued on. I know what it is like to have talent and be injured. I , too, have gone through horrible adversity to get where I am today. It takes dedication and someone to believe in you to help make some of your dreams come true... Good Luck DAVID! Kudos to Chef Ramsey for seeing talent through adversity!

I think Dave should win. He's not cocky like Kevin and is quick even with one arm. Dave has certainly proven his skills! Imagine how great he will be with two hands 🙂 He is driven and awesome. I hope he wins so he can afford a hair cut. Won't he be oh so cute with short hair? Yes. Yes, he will 🙂

With the end of the show in our sightst, what better ending would there be than to have David, our wounded chef, be Chef Ramsey and Hell's Kitchen's man? Chef Ramsey believes in people overcoming adversity as he shown many times this season. At the beginning of the series, David injured his wrist and is in excruciating pain especially when lifting those heavy pans. Week after week he has shown the uncanny ability to see through his pain and continue on to the end. Chef Ramsey wants a chef like this because he is a fighter himself and gives back to his community. It's not unlike what we see in our soldiers coming home from the war that he throws a surprise homecoming for, it why he feeds hungry firemen and shows kids fine cuisine... IT IS ABOUT PASSION! As a veteran, I look at kids that come home from war, kids on the street, people who do for the good of people who can overcome adversity and pursue their passions. To me, David exemplifies the stamina and dedication that Chef Ramsey needs to run a top restaurant in Whistler, British Columbia. KUDOS to Chef Ramsey for not giving up on him.

Dave should definitely win... He has shown creativity, hard work, positive attitude and perseverance. In the past Hell's Kitchen seasons the contestants who faced injuries all dropped out. Dave is the only one that has made it to the end even through the gut wrenching pain. He has barely been on the chopping block unlike Ariel and I feel that while Kevin has the discipline and demeanor to run a kitchen well, Dave's creativity is more valuable in the long run. I think he will be able to bring the Araxi high energy, creative dishes and a well run kitchen.

Kevin will win. Honestly I feel all 3 need more experience but Kevin seems the most ready. Dave is great, but has concentrated so much on just getting by with one hand. It would have been great to see him at full strength. No fault of his own though. Ariel is cool but is green. She needs more time running a smaller operation and one day will be great if she sticks with it. But I think Kevin is the most ready and has been consistent all season. I cant remember if he has even been on the chopping block. Ariel and Dave have.

After watching every episode of Hell's Kitchen for the past 7 seasons, Dave is the most determinded contestant by far. Working through with his injury, Dave has proven time and time again that he has the drive to win. His food creations have been "spot on". Dave works well with others and jumps in when necessary, even with one arm in a cast. Dave gives 110% effort and would be a nice addition to the Araxi and the Gordon Ramsay line of restuarants.

Dave should definitely win! The kid isn't cocky like the other two get and is a phenomenal chef with only one hand! He also has his fiance who from the show last week is completely behind him in what he does and he seems like a down to earth wholesome good guy... GO DAVE!

As Hell's Kitchen wraps up, I can only think that Dave will be the winner. He shows non-stop will and energy to continue despite his injury, consistent in each dinner service, and doing his best without conceding the customer touch. Just as Southwest Airlines, Dave brings passion to the table: the passion to succeed and be the best at what he does. During this entire competition, Dave have not waivered from his beliefs and has proven to Chef Ramsey that he belongs in the Araxi. Good leadership is always essential both in the kitchen and in the air. Good luck Dave!

The winner of Hell's Kitchen will be the chef that is the most driven, talented, and whose heart is dedicated to the passion of cooking. The chef who best exemplifies these qualities has consistently been Dave. There is a fire in his eyes and it's not one that symbolizes vengeance, greed, or pompous pride. Unlike the other two contestants, he has increasingly become better at his craft and taken every lesson to heart. The fact that he is risking permanent injury to win Hell's Kitchen illustrates his intense desire to win Hell's Kitchen. If Ariel or Kevin were to have been injured, I'm sure they would have not taken the same risks that Dave has taken. Tonight, Dave will prove himself to be the most qualified chef for Araxi restaurant. Cheers!

Dave has never been on the chopping block and is by far the best chef. Have any of you people been watching at all. Dave is hands down is the best chef.

My pick is going to be for Dave. You can tell he wants this bad and he's a great cook! GO TEAM DAVE!

Without a doubt the winner should be Kevin. After Chef Ramsay surprised each chef by bringing in two significant people in their lives, Kevin had stated that he was doing this all for his wife and son. They're the inspiration for him to succeed in this competition and win to make life better for them. After that segment, it occurred to me that he truly is a wonderful husband/father/inspiration to anybody who has the desire to fight for his/her passion to better someone elses' life. Not to mention he's proven he has the most experience by not getting on Chef Gordon Ramsay's bad side more than the other two contestants.

I believe Dave should win Hell's Kitchen. He has managed to still be in the final 3 with just one arm, I wonder if he would have had both arms would it even be a contest. On many of dinner services he has been in terrible pain, and it seemed like he made things happen in the kitchen running around not only doing his job but helping others. I beleive if he won the head chef position at Araxi, he would shine, especially if he had the use of both arms.

Dave- He deserves to win, even with one hand he is better than Ariel and Kevin. He has an injury and has managed to work with it. If Dave wins I will go to his resteraunt to eat his fantastic meals. Thank you Chef Ramsey for allowing Dave to be on Hell's Kitchen, CA loves you

i think kevin will win.. he's the only one that had the least drama in the show and had been consistent throughout.

Anyone that fights through the pain that Dave's been in and STILL been rarely called out on mistakes is a winner in my book. Sure he seems like he's forgetful at times, but anyone would be dealing with constant pain like that. Fighting all the way and doing what it takes to stay makes him the perfect choice. Nobody else who's been injured (repeatedly) has endured like he has!

I think it's going to be Dave. Even though he has been injured the whole time, he has consistently put up good food and good service. I mean, alot of people would probably just quit and say "I can't cook with one arm" but he never gave up. Good luck Dave!! And good luck to me!! Thank you!

I think Dave should win. He can do more with one hand than anyone! He keeps hurting his hand and keeps bouncing back - he shows he really wants to win it for him and his fiance. And he wears great hats instead of the bandanas!

Hell's Kitchen-the show that heats right up! Chef Ramsay-a culinary genius with a temper that erupts! Kevin's been consistent, but thinks he's God's gift to the kitchen; he couldn't even cook rice and slowed down the team's mission! Dave has definitely shown that working through pain can breed progress, but how will he survive at the Araxi if there's long term damage to his wrist? Now last, but not least is my girl Ariel-she's a creative, culinary master and sure to do well! She'll do so well her new title will be: Head Chef at the Araxi; creating delicious cuisine for all of you and me!

My number one choice is DAVE!! He not only cooks with one hand , but continues to amaze me with his perseverance. One episode shows Dave carryone a huge pan out of the oven with one hand with painfull grimaces.... it pains me just watching him. In order to be successful in anything one does, perseverance is very important. Do not give up when the going gets tough. Go Dave!! I will be rooting for you tonite!!!

I'm a member of Team Dave. For all the reasons listed above plus, he didn't overcook the rice. (Kevin) Plus he seems to really want it more as opposed to Kevin who seems to feel it should be his. I like Ariel but she doesn't seem temperamentally suited to leading a full staff yet. Can't wait to see how each of them does running the pass tonight.
