Very touching story. It shows how Southwest went "above and beyond" to help stranded customers even in a city where it doesn't fly to. Come to think of it, there just might be a demand for Southwest to fly to a city in Western Michigan, such as Grand Rapids or Kalamazoo. It would be a great convenience for customers in the area who currently have to travel to Detroit or Chicago to take advantage of Southwest's legendary fares and service. And the Southwest Effect would dramatically lower the high fares to fly to and from these cities. If Southwest was able to help customers this well in a city they don't fly to, imagine what it could do in a city they fly to!

I think it is wonderful that they would fly into Grand Rapids. I also agree with the above posting that it would be a great thing for Southwest to fly into Grand Rapids. The drive to detroit and/or chicago has gotten to be too much and myself being a loyal southwest customer has had to look for other alternatives. Hopefully in the near future Grand Rapids will be on their list.

Excellent story, excellent video! The whole thing made me think, "why aren't they already in Grand Rapids?" I think there's a great opportunity for SW to tap into the region's value-minded attitude and make a lot of people really happy.

I would love Southwest to fly into GRR. I drive at least once a year to Chicago Midway to fly on Southwest and am never disappointed. I have flown every major carrier in the US except for Alaska Airlines and none have come close to SWA's performance!

a ten million dollar fine eh? well, good for you. if you focused on the airplane integrity more and stop pretending to be peter pan and take your business more seriously, then you wouldn't be getting such a fine. i recently spent almost a whole month trying to get employment with your airline, only to have my efforts rejected because of some lame excuse on your part. and it took your company a week and a half to come up with it. i hope you get some qualified applicants who don't have criminal backgrounds.

peter pan. you have too much time on your hands. yes, i was angry. you would be too if you burned the midnight oil only to have your efforts reduced to a simple no thank you. but hey, thanks for filling out an application with our airline and we wish you luck in your future endeavors. besides. i like peter pan. it's my favorite penut butter next to micky mouse. also. how did you get those kids to fly? i tried to fly when i was on acid and i only keep falling three stories to the pavement. any advice? take care. i'm not mad anymore.
