January 7 was a very exciting day for us here at Southwest Airlines as we celebrated the tenth anniversary of our service at Denver International Airport.  You might be thinking, ten years doesn’t seem very long, considering that Southwest turns 45 this June.  But what makes this city a real show-stopper for us is the fact that in just ten short years Denver has become Southwest’s fourth busiest city operation and the fastest growing in our 45-year history.  Now that’s something of which we’re very proud! We certainly didn’t accomplish this overnight.  The amazing Mile-High community put its trust in our airline*, helping us grow from 13 flights a day serving  three cities in 2006, to nearly 180 flights a day serving more than 55 destinations domestically, and carrying more people to and from Denver than any other airline.  We’ve even added service to Cancun, Cabo San Lucas/Los Cabos, and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, all in the past year.

Knowing where our Customers want to fly is just one piece of the story, but understanding what they find important, and what fuels local passion is the piece of the equation we take to heart.  For the past five years, we’ve partnered with Downtown Denver Partnership to bring back the Southwest Rink at Skyline Park for the holiday season, allowing friends, families, and visitors to come together and enjoy the holiday beauty of downtown.  You’ll also see Southwest supporting the community as the Official Airline of the Denver Nuggets, as well as the airline partner of one of live music’s most inspiring venues, Red Rocks Amphitheater. It’s been our honor to support the greater Denver community during the past ten years.  Our nearly 3,000 Employees who call Denver home look forward to sharing our unique hospitality with you on your next flight to or from the great state of Colorado.
