Anyone out there speak French that can help us translate this blog post about "Nuts?" We think it's complimentary...but we're not 100% sure. I knew I should've taken French instead of Spanish in high school. Adios.

Angela, My high school French never earned me any As on my report card, and the passage of time since then has dulled many of whatever skills I once had in the language. I will forward it to my daughter who took lots of French and will hopefully have a good translation for you soon. In the meantime, I looked through it, and the best I could tell, it says something about "beware of crazy Americans who are addicted to candy corn", but I may have lost part of it in the translation... Kim 🙂

Try google translate. It doesn't get it all, but it gets most of it. http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Faviation.squarespace.com%2Finnovation-et-transport-aerien%2F2007%2F1%2F28%2Fle-blog-de-southwest-airlines.html&langpair=fr%7Cen&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&prev=%2Flanguage_tools

http://www.google.com/language_tools?hl=en :) Appears to ask the question of whether a company blog will allow for free exchange of ideas, whether moderation will stifle discussion, or whether it will serve as a valuable communication tool with customers.

Ran it through the nifty google website-o-translator and it came up with this: http://www.google.com/translate?langpair=fr|en&u=aviation.squarespace.com/innovation-et-transport-aerien/2007/1/28/le-blog-de-southwest-airlines.html

I think I saw something there along the lines of, "What must we do to persuade Southwest to purchase some of our fine Airbus planes?" 😄

Gary, I think the current discussion of the schedule delay proves that this blog is indeed allowing a free exchange of ideas. Thumbs up to the blog team and contributors for that!

"Salut! Comment-allez vous? Je vais bien." I just said: "Hi! How are you? I'm fine." I don't remember if I spelled "How are you?" correctly, though. I took four & a half years of French & remember some; I recognize some of the words on that blog, but not enough to really help you! I wish I could. I remember my first dialogue from French 1 in ninth grade, which was 16 years ago this August! Au revoir (good bye)! By the way, SWA, you know I LUV you! :) SWA LUV & mine, always! Leah

My French is rusty, but I'm pretty sure these are the bullet points: "We feel sorry for the schedule guy." "We hope they never have assigned seating." "All the employees at SWA are wonderful." "That poor Bill, he's taken too much heat." "They need another "What is this" picture quest again soon." "Kim Seale is truly 'Nuts' about Southwest." "We wish Air France would partner with Southwest." "They have been too mean to Bill Owen." "When are they going to offer honey roasted peanuts again?" And some other stuff, not sure.

I believe they posted their random thoughts...then a joke or two..but mostly I believe they were upset because the schedule has not opened beyond May l0. I too may have lost something in the transalation......

Ever been to a wedding that you wished you hadn't? Or ever look back on your wedding day and wished you had eloped? Well, I am that person. After years of working in the hospitality industry and seeing brides turn the world upside down, I have begun to plan my elopement. Everything is done...except for one small detail: I would love for Southwest to offer their fabulous gift cards with "LUV" printed on them. Each person I have spoken with at Southwest has lead to a closed door, so this is my last venue. If you would like to give (or receive) a little LUV, please feel free to jot your support down. It may lead to - yet another - Southwest idea! Viva Las Vegas (and here's to Elvis singing at my wedding)!

I asked a friend who is fluent in French to translate and this is what she sent back to me: Bertrand Duperrin writes: We are noting the beginning of a Southwest airlines blog - a collaborative blog co-written by twenty or so employees who talk about their life on the job. So, is it a corporate blog or a personal opinion blog? Well, it acts as a controlled blog which seems legitimate since the company is ultimately responsible for everything that is published. But rest assured in knowing how much is controlled: too much control would hurt the validity of the blog and readers would quickly see through it. With a bit of control we can achieve a true method of communication among the company, its customers, and its employees. Hope that helps!

Jim, It looks like your foreign language skills are much better than mine, but then again, at my age, I'm doing good to even remember high school. And, as to one of your translation bullets, I'll confess that I'm guilty as charged. But, did they say if I was honey roasted or "just plane", errr, I mean "plain"? Kim 🙂

To put in the Flightnumber in the check Flight Status online option has been taken away. That is rather stupid, because people don't provide us always with the city of origin, especially if they connect through somewhere else. So how can i check on a flight online without having the departure city ? Maybe you can put that option back in. Thank's, A local car service

Kim - it distinctly states you are plane-ly a honey roasted nut. Helmut - Uh, wrong topic. I think you wanted to reply here - http://www.blogsouthwest.com/2007/01/15/a-new-look-for-southwestcom/#comments

I caught the part where they were asking for in-flight baguette service, but the rest was over my head... Sorry, bad joke. I bought some French software a year or two ago and it cracked me up when I noticed that the woman on the cover was wearing a beret and carrying a baguette... Made me wonder what the American English version would look like if they sold it overseas... Would it be an over-weight, loud man carrying a super-size McDonald's value meal?

Hello, Would you please consider providing service to GREENVILLE/SPARTBURG GSP. ? ? There are at least 3 Colleges right there in Greenville, SC which would provide a hugh market for SOUTHWEST. Bob Jones University, Clemson and Fordam are just 3 of the Colleges there. Would you please respond to us. Thank you.
J__Wallace
Explorer C
Yea, the Greenville, SC market is ready for Southwest. No doubt it would be a successful move for Southwest.

The three colleges are however as follows: Bob Jones University, Clemson and FURMAN are just 3 of the colleges there.

Southwest in GSP would help so many people with flights to Jacksonville, Knoxville and many other cities. GSP just is not competitive in the market.

GSP needs southwest. American and US Air are the only large carriers operating out of GSP and have extremely over priced fares. Three major universities (Clemson, Bob Jones, and Furman) are in the area, not to mention a huge BMW factory a few miles from GSP. Greenville is a rapidly growing community and just two hours from downtown Atlanta and three hours from Charlotte. Also a gateway to Asheville and the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Southwest needs to come to Greenville, SC (GSP) like now! Pleeeeease SW! Stop draggin our heart around!

We need a run from JAX to GSP. Please evaluate this route as the NE coast of FLA from DAB to JAX includes St. Augustine and Gainesville. the intrigue here is not just easier travel for second home owners in the piedmont area, but the knowledge that people fly nonstop to ATL and CLT, though their desire is really upstate SC and mountains NC
