Enhanced Onboard Distancing

Employee
Employee

When you’re ready to fly again, Southwest is prepared to welcome you. Once onboard, you’ll notice more open seats as we are limiting the number of travelers on each flight to allow middle seats to remain open through at least July 31. Of course, if you’re traveling with your family or a group, our open seating policy gives you the opportunity to sit together while distancing from others. The Southwest Team looks forward to serving you again one day soon.

New Arrival

When I got on flight#1323 today June 4th at Phoenix Sky Harbor I went to my usual seat 11B. As an A-List customer I get it just about every time. When I got to my seat a very tall blonde male flight attendant immediately told me that someone would be sitting next to me on the row with only 2 seats. I told him that doesn’t meet social distancing guidelines. He said social distancing doesn’t apply to exit row seats. Is this true?

New Arrival

I truly hope Southwest continues the social distancing policies well past July 31st. I recently flew roundtrip and I can not imagine going back to full planes with all middle seats occupied. I hope you can find a way to continue this model. It made me feel much more comfortable and willing to fly. If you go back to previous policies of packing planes I think you will lose customers to airlines that will hopefully continue to put safety first for a LONG LONG time. I would love to see this be a permanent change.
