Patriotism runs deep at Southwest Airlines, and we are proud of all those who serve, especially the nearly 5,800 Active Duty, Reservists, and Veterans who are part of the Southwest Family.  We support men and women in uniform all year long through relationships with nonprofit organizations like the Armed Forces Foundation and Honor Flight Network.  In celebration of Military Heroes Month, you’ll hear about and read blogs about service, how we honor the military, the sacrifice these heroes make, and how we celebrate the brave who fight for our Freedoms.

Southwest’s military support isn’t just limited to November, but this gives us the opportunity to show how much we care and to remind us why it’s so important for us to give back and thank our nation’s heroes.  So, in honor of Military Heroes Month, wear red on Fridays, say thank you to those who are serving or have served, and show how strong your Servant’s Heart beats by finding a special way to appreciate and honor our men and women who have given so much.

Who’s your hero?  How do you appreciate the military?  Share your story by commenting below.

There was once when just after pulling up to the gate, the captain came over the speaker and asked eveyone to sit back down. He then asked all military and veterans to stand, gather their things and depart first. On that day, I felt appreciated for being a retired USAF vet. Thanks SWA!

Fueled By The Fallen has the only rolling memorial for 9/11 built on the American Chevrolet Camaro (2011, RS) and bares all the names of the individuals that lost their lives on that fateful day. They do phenomenal work in the words uttered by so many, "Never Forget." So many people were affected that day and the fact that Kevyn Major Howard (Rafter Man from Stanley Kubrick's 'Full Metal Jacket') built the tribute adds to impact that this beautiful memorial because of the impact that film has on the military community. Fueled By The Fallen is a one of a kind non-profit that gives back to the ones that deserve it most, Veterans, First Responders, and their families.
