Golf Fever

For the past year or so, my husband Brad and one of his buddies have been so excited over the US Open and the fact that it’s been played at a public golf course.  They have made it their mission to play the course that the pros will play in US Open conditions.  Seriously, it’s all they talk about!

Last year they tried to plan a trip to Torrey Pines but could never get a tee time.  This year, the US Open will be played at Bethpage Black on Long Island, and if you’re from out of state, the only way to get a tee time is to wait in line.  Back in May, all 6’5” of my man and his friends camped in the parking lot in the back of a rented mini-van to hold their place.  After two days of rain out and many calls to me to find them SWA flights back to Texas, they FINALLY got to play.  He assures me it was the golf round of a lifetime and worth every cramped moment in the mini-van.

I thought this trip would get it out of their system, but he informed me that next year’s PGA Championship will be played at public course Whistling Straits in Wisconsin.  Not two days after this conversation, SWA announced that we’ll be starting service into Milwaukee just in time to get them there.

Oh Southwest Airlines, you are enabling my man’s golf habit!

This is such a cool story and a really tough course...any idea on the scores?
