Think back—who motivated, supported, and inspired you when you were starting to consider your future career? Did a certain individual play a pivotal role in your career development? As you think about these two questions, were you immediately inspired or did you have to take time to reflect on a series of events?

Career aspirations can begin at any age and evolve throughout your life.

Here at Southwest, inspiration is all around us. It can be found when we’re overcoming unfavorable odds, recalling our Company history of challenging the status quo, or being amazed by a Co-Heart going above & beyond for a Customer. These types of influential moments affect our lives every day, and there is no shortage of inspiration at Southwest.

We asked some of our incredible Southwest women to share their stories. They are proof to the next generation that if you work hard, you can achieve your dreams.

In the same way that we’ve all been inspired by our surroundings, role models and impactful stories, we want to inspire the next generation, and our partnership with GenHERation allows us to leave a lasting impact. GenHERation is a community where young women and companies connect. High school and college students have access to career exploration, women executives, skill-building activities and scholarships through GenHERation’s digital platform and national events.

Southwest is partnering with GenHERation for their 2017 Discovery Days tour, where young women will have the opportunity to come to Dallas to learn about Southwest, interact with our women Leaders and experience what it’s like to Live and Work the Southwest Way.

Additional Discovery Days tour stops include: Chicago, Los Angeles, Seattle, San Francisco, New York City and Philadelphia. By allowing these young women to create narratives with Southwest as an impactful influence on their future, we can help pave the way for the next generation.

As John Quincy Adams once said: “If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more, and become more, you are a leader.” What impact will your actions have? Who will you inspire?
