Hospital blog

This is a first--a blog post written from a hospital bed. Seems that somewhere along the way, I picked up some blood clots in my leg and lungs. So here I sit poked, prodded, and tested morning, afternoon, and night until my blood gets thinned to the proper vampirian consistency. In the meantime, I've been reading e-mails from my friends at work. Thankfully, I can remain connected via crackberry. At times like this, I am so grateful to be part of the Southwest Airlines Family. Hopefully, I will be out of here soon, and I thank Angela Vargo and Paula Berg for moderating the blog in my absence Update: I got to go home on Friday (August 17) but the docs want me to take a week off.

Brian - Consider this posting as your get-well card from WTBB an d the wonderful Mrs. WTBB. We hope all is well, glad you got to leave the hospital early. We, your loyal readers, can probably (but with trepidation) get by without you for a week 🙂

Glad the docs are treating you well, and that you should be home, by the time you read this. Your condition caught my attention, while reading the blog, in that airline travel is associated with these problems. (I am not a doctor, but I guess people don't move around much in their seats (especially when not in First Class,) and don't walk up and down the aisles much.) Email my off-list if you want some medical journal citation links. Again, hope you progress well. Bill

Correction/update. Just read a few of the abstracts, of the thirteen articles in PubMed related to airline and DVT. Class of seating did not affect the incidence, according to one study (BEST study). Aisle seating and a raised seat (NewSit) lessened the incidence, A risk factor seemed to be for flights longer than five hours. (I don't even play a physician on television.) (Your mileage may vary.) (This is not meant to replace consultation with your personal physician.)

My prayers are with you for a speedy recovery. Don't listen to USS Blog about eating candy corn - all you need is some good ole green chile from New Mexico. Take care of yourself and rest. Yolanda Delgado USS Blog Boy's Sergeant (mom)

Brian, Welcome back, buddy! I hope all of the jokes I sent you helped your recovery, or at the very least didn't overload your Crackberry! To readers of the Blog, Just to clue you in, the story about the clots was just a cover-up. The REAL reason he was in the hospital was that he had some extensive plastic surgery on his face. Brian has been embarrassed for a number of years now by his uncanny resemblance to Brad Pitt, and it is always awkward for him when folks stop him and ask for his autograph or inquire about how Angelina is doing. So, he has changed his appearance now to reduce the celebrity confusion for his sake AND for Mr. Pitt's sake, who generously funded the procedure. Brad paid for it since he has frequently been beseeched in airports for bags of candy corn and extra Rapid Rewards segment credits by people thinking he was Brian Lusk. Kim Who does not resemble Brian OR Brad 🙂

Kim, I heard about this. I even offered my services for "laser corrective surgery", but alas, my corrective tool is on a plane to Houston. This is not the celebrity you're looking for..... Jedi Blog Master

Gee Kim, You have it all wrong, Brad looks like ME, not the other way around. While I didn't have any surgery, I have grown a beard--don't know yet if I will keep it. Blog Boy
