Inside the Southwest Weather Center -- Podcast

I have always been fascinated by weather, especially growing up in Texas and going to college in Oklahoma...weather just tends to happen there.  With all of the crazy weather sweeping across the country this time of year and causing all sorts of problems for travelers, we thought it would be a great idea to sit down and talk with Southwest's Chief Meteorologist, Rick Curtis, to get an inside look at how Southwest monitors, predicts, and then communicates the coming weather to Employees and Customers.  This is Part One of this series. In Part Two, I am going to sit down with our Proactive Customer Communication group which is responsible for getting the word out to Southwest Customers about the changing details of their flights.  Come on into this podcast where the weather is nice!

Plano Jim I was on an incredible flight from Midland to Luv, flight 2099, on December 29th, I was seated in row 12 on the left side of the plane. In front of me was a guy and a girl, and another girl. About 30 minutes into the flight the guy (Russell) got up and walked to the front of the plane. The long and the short he proposed to the yound lady that was sitting in front of me (Nicole). He asked her to come forward, down on one knee, and asked if she would marry him. There was tumulterous clapping and shouting, Nicole was a bright red color and throughly embarrassed. Above the noise I could not hear if she accepted. Shortly after the pilot came on and offerred his congrats for the new couple. Russell works for SWA and lives in Midland while Nicole lives in Tulsa, they met on a SWA flight. Russell said from that first flight he knew that he wanted to marry her. I have flown for many years but I have never seen all the flight attendants crying at one time, numerous camera flashing. My congrats to the couple, long life and many wonderful years ahead.
