My favorite Martin Luther King, Jr. quote is:
"People fail to get along because they fear each other; they fear each other because they don't know each other; they don't know each other because they have not communicated with each other."
At Southwest Airlines, we have always had a Culture of treating each other and out Customers like Family.  As our Employee and Customer base continues to grow, it’s important that we continue to take time to get to know each other and celebrate what makes each of us unique.   As the Vice President of Diversity & Inclusion, I enjoy the opportunity to host events where Southwest Employees can take time to communicate and learn more about how the diversity of each Employee’s talent and experience contributes to the success of our Company.  Martin Luther King, Jr.’s words have inspired me to plan events like our Diversity Summit where we encouraged participants to engage in honest and open conversations with each other.   This genuine interest in others translates to our Legendary Customer Service and to strengthening the communities we serve. I hope today will serve as a great reminder that we need to continue to communicate with each other and get to know each other so that we can appreciate and value one another.
