Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls!

No, the circus is not in town – but Southwest Airlines and its Legendary Customer Service are!  The addition of Southwest service is the new and exciting thing to happen in our beautiful city of Charlotte, N.C.

Let’s start with some fun facts about Charlotte:

  • NASCAR was founded here
  • Many movies and television shows have been filmed in Charlotte, including Homeland and The Hunger Games
  • The name “Charlotte” is of French origin and means “strong woman.” It is the female diminutive of Charles and has been used in England since the 17th century.  The name was first made popular by Queen Charlotte, George III’s wife, who the city is named after.

Once a somnolent little textile town, Charlotte is now a first-rate metropolis capable of holding its own with any other municipality. Simultaneously urban and urbane, quiet and quaint, Charlotte is a hot spot of trade, energy, finance, and culture without losing a bit of its sassy Southern charm.

Considered to have one of the nation’s world class airports, Charlotte has everything you need or are looking for.  Once you arrive to Charlotte Douglas International Airport you will find over 30 eateries including southern barbeque and sushi.

If you are here to just have a relaxed day at the park, a walk through Freedom Park is just what you need!  Located near Uptown Charlotte, Freedom Park has baseball and soccer fields, tennis courts, a playground area for the kids, and a trail that can be walked or biked if you wish. Also, Segway tours are a great way to learn about our city while you enjoy the great weather.

For an adrenaline rush, you can try some whitewater rafting or rock climbing at the U.S. National Whitewater Center.  They also offer fun rides on the zip lines and Eco Trekking.  After a fun-filled day, relax a bit by enjoying live music and amazing food and beverages at the center.

Every year the city hosts what is known as “Taste of Charlotte.” You can eat and drink your way along five blocks of Tyron Street, enjoying live music the whole way.  The city’s most notable restaurants dish out nearly 100 menu items. More indulgence: find over 100 wineries near Charlotte to bring out the wine enthusiast in you.

Southwest Airlines and Charlotte are the perfect match.  The arrival of Southwest Airlines gives many ways to connect in or out of the city at a low cost. As a ground operations supervisor, I can guarantee we provide our customers with the friendliest service you can find in the airline industry.  Charlotte will start nonstop service to Baltimore, Houston, Chicago, and (my favorite) Orlando, Fla.

So fly in from one of our many domestic destinations or now near-International San Juan and visit us.  I look forward to serving you on your next flight on Southwest Airlines!

On the route map, you show that you offer a non-stop from CLT to ATL. Is this correct? AirTran flew this route but it was supposedly discontinued when SW began service 4/14/2013. ATL is a great "day trip" from CLT.

I couldn't wait for you to open the Charlotte hub after taking over Air Tran...to heck now with having to fly to Detroit on Delta then to Charlotte!!! Baltimore at least is logical...I have my siblings living about 20 mins from BWI so this is a well-worn route for me and Southwest!!! my Home base is Hartford!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!
