Please Stop Kicking My Seat!

One of my biggest fears while sitting in the middle seat of an airplane is falling asleep.  I am not a nervous flyer, and I don't at all mind sitting in the middle seat...what scares me is the possibility of falling asleep and accidentally cuddling with my next door neighbor.  Many times while flying, I've woken myself up with the napping head jerk (you know what I'm talking about) but as far as I know, I have yet to lay my head on a stranger's shoulder during nap time.  I started thinking how annoying that would be for my fellow passengers, which made me wonder else irritates people while they're flying. According to a recent poll on a travel website, following are a few violations of airplane etiquette that bother people the most: Incessant Talker: Chatters non-stop                            23% Rapid Recliner: Wheels up, in your lap                          20% Arm Rest Hog: Elbow wrestling, you lose                      12% Carry-on Champ: Bashes bags left and right                 12% Seat Back Grabber: Grabs your seat to get up              11% Who Me?: Yes, you; turn off your cell phone                 10% Flight DJ: iPod loud enough for all                                  3% The Boozer: Unscheduled landing anyone?                     3% Mad Bladder: Quaff-n-go maniac                                   1% Dare I ask what habits you find annoying about your fellow travelers??

Scared to fly.... yes, usually our flights in and out of vegas are full. And this particular flight was full, as well as my seat and his if you know what i mean. I am by no means a skinny girl myself. but i do fit in my seat. And yes, our planes are two rows on each side of the plane with 3 seats on each side. I hope you decide to try flying someday. I too, once was to affraid to fly. I came to work here, learned about our maintenance, and our most awesome safety record, and our most awesome people. I have no problems flying now. And when we encounter turbulance, i just tell myself that it is just potholes in the sky. you should give us a try sometime! it's alot of fun, and much quicker than driving!

I'am gonna fly at the end of this month to las vegas. Im coming from omaha nebraska to vegas. I'm very excited about it i was jsut nervous about the seats cause someone said that when they got there they were gonna make them purchase to seats cause they were bigger. I just afraid thats gonna happen to me even though i called there and they said i shouldnt have a problem after they asked me all sorts of questions. Do you have jsut a row with 2 seats or they are all 3 seats? Like i said im jsut curious cause i have never been on a plane before. I have talked to people and they say i shouldnt have a problem cause they have seen way bigger people then me fly so that always makes me more comfortable. Thanks Tamara for all the information

Handicapped people who aren't really handicap, but abuse the open seat policy by sitting in a wheelchair thus getting priority boarding. I witnessed this first hand on flight 1765 from MSY to BWI on the 9th of March. Better yet, the "handicapped" person was able to save a seat for other members of the his group by putting coat and bags inthe emergency exits seats ( row 10) with the flight attendant watching! If Southwest is not going to enforce the rules, do away with open seating! It does not work.

I love traveling with Southwest because of its friendly people and low fares, and I particularly appreciate the open seating policy. What's starting to bug me, though, is the boarding group queue. It jams up the gate area to the point that no one can move about - a safety concern - and it's pretty uncomfortable to stand there for an hour before the aircraft even arrives. Here's a suggestion. Every boarding pass has a "sequence number" on it, presumably assigned in the order that passengers check in online or at the airport. Why not board according to those sequence numbers? It would eliminate the queue altogether.

I fly SWA on business every week and ONE of the things that annoys me is this: I get an A boarding pass, get to the gate early, settle into an aisle seat and here comes a couple (one of the last few people to board). They ask if I will switch seats so they can sit together (aisle for aisle) but end up next to a big fat guy for a three hour flight. When I politely decline I get an argument and end up being called a jerk. My take: if you are a couple wanting to sit together, get an A or a B boarding pass.

flying to Vegas on a fairly regular basis ( I really enjoy the shows and variety of cuisine) I see people all the time leave bags in the A-B-C lines and walk away somewhere, despite the announcements that NO ONE is to leave baggage unattended...I'd like to see the gate attendants call the TSA people and have them take the bags...allowing them to remain just descriminates against those of us who obey the safety regulations...having to go to the TSA people to reclaim their bags will train them NOT TO DO THAT!

I agree, sometimes it can be a little annoying flying with bad neighbors.
