SCHEDULE NEWS--ADDED SERVICE COMING IN THE SECOND HALF OF 2010

A quick schedule surprise--we're adding service beginning at summer's end!  One seasonal market that's being extended ... and two brand new routes that tie two of our newest markets to one of our oldest and most successful ones.

When we announced the seasonal resumption of nonstop Baltimore/Washington(BWI)-Los Angeles(LAX) service starting on May 9, we planned to end it again on August 13.  But WOW!  Our bookings have been so strong that we're going to continue with one roundtrip, nonstop BWI-LAX flight that will continue on through at least October 30.   After that?  We'll see!

Out in Phoenix (PHX), we're adding new nonstop service to Minneapolis/St. Paul (two roundtrip nonstops begin effective August 15th) as well as between PHX and Boston/Logan (one daily roundtrip nonstop starts September 7th).  Both new markets will provide GREAT connectivity to/from the West Coast for our Customers in the Twin Cities and Boston, but both are large nonstop markets in and of themselves.

These new markets are available for sale right now at southwest.com.  Happy booking, guys--and have a great week!

I would just highly recommend some service through Palm Springs International Airprot. I think the following routes would be beneficial: PSP-LAS (both ways) PSP-SAN PSP-SJC PSP-SAC PSP-CHICAGO PSP-NEW YORK In other words, Palm Springs needs more affordable, reliable service. As of now, folks have to drive 2 hours to Ontario, San Diego, or LAX in order to fly Southwest.

Bill, We need a special DAL-LBB-DAL flight added on Sunday, 9/5. Let's depart 9:30 am and return 8:30 pm. Lots of Mustangs (and Red Raiders) want a day trip to see SMU-Texas Tech. Not interested in spending 2 nights in Lubbock. Thanks, SS

COLUMBIA, SC NEEDS SOME SOUTHWEST LUV! I live in Chicago so I am blessed with a great Southwest hub and loads of other options I try to avoid. Currently, I have been flying into RDU and driving 3 hours to Columbia. It is getting old. There are so many reasons that Columbia would make great home for WN. It's a capitol city with lots of government and corporate travel. It is a city that is growing. It is located centrally in the state with good highway access for both business and pleasure travelers. It is home to the University of SC with 28,000 students as well as some smaller colleges right in Columbia. The state also has several universities outside of Columbia. Columbia is home to Fort Jackson the largest army training facility in the US. South Carolina has been one of fastest growing retiree populations in the country. South Carolina draws golfers from all over the country year round to play courses. Columbia has a great little terminal thats clean and attractive but with only a few flights a day and expensive everyone goes to CLT and hour and a half away.Come on Southwest give Columbia some LUV and grab some market share in this underserved part of the country. Oh, and I personally would love direct access from Chicago! Thanks for listening, Melissa

Thank you for continuing the BWI-LAX flight. This is a great development! Please bring more coast-to-coast flights to BWI.

Many great comments but my vote is behind a South Carolina airport. About 10 years ago I wrote LUV and said they needed to add a Greenville-Spartanburg location. Then you can pick up the peopel from Charlotte (90 min), Columbia (less than 2 hours), northern GA (hour-plus) and western NC. There are many destinations within 1 to 2 hours of that airport. Second choice would be Columbia. Its less than 2 hours to Chas., Myrtle Beach, GSP, Hilton Head, Augusta, and Charlotte. And the flight costs to those cities are $$$$$s! In fact 3 non-stops from Nashville (BNA) would be a great start. You could connect to Houston, Chicago, and the West Coast with multiple non-stops.

Can we get more direct flights between LAX and RNO - or add a BUR to RNO? There are only 3 a day from LAX to RNO and every time I fly on them they are either 100% booked or overbooked!!! Let's get at least 1 a day between BUR and RNO!!!

How many times do people have to bring to your attention that you don't fly to Atlanta, Charlotte, Memphis, and South Carolina before you DO IT!?!?! The first three already have nonstop service from Nashville and are strong business routes so why not connect them in there? Nashville wants service to these places. And go to Canada, Mexico, and the Carribean while you're at it! Sooooooo much demand in these places and you do NOTHING.

After waiting for decades for SWA to connect Phoenix with Minneapolis, the day finally came when SWA made my dream come true with a connection through Chicago Midway. And now non-stop service on top of that - I must be in travel heaven. I'm proud to be a frequent flyer on SWA and stockholder as well. Thanks and keep the fares low!

PSP is an interesting thought, but no way can you fill a 737 going direct from almost any WN market. A hop through LAS or PHX on the other hand... I just checked United's website for Jun 8 - Jun 10 tickets DEN-PSP: $434.40! By comparison, DEN-LAS/PHX-ONT is running at $160.80 on Southwest. If WN could operate something like DEN-LAS-PSP for the same price as going to ONT, it looks like a juicy, albeit small, market based on this one data point.

To echo "el presidente"... as a 20+ year SWA flyer (A-List, Companion Pass, shareholder) living in PHX and part time in MSP... having seen the large number of through passengers MSP-DEN-PHX... yay yay and yay! Thanks!

I would LUV to see Southwest to open Charlotte. Please LOOK into it! Also when is ISP(long Island) ever going to grow? All them gates and the use two all day, pretty sad. They need non stops to BOS,MSP,PHL,DEN,LAX.The list can go on.It's mostly BWI,MDW,and all of Florida,That's LAME! Dallas, fix ISP to what you were going to use it for.

I agree with people saying Southwest Airlines should go to Greenville-Spartanburg, SC. Talk about a goldmine location that would be successful. It's in an area of the southeast that currently isn't served by them.

I had heard that SWA was coming to Madison Wisconsin in May 2010. Is that true? We would really like to hear a big yes!

Charlotte. Please add Charlotte. I'm sick of flying through Mylanta and I'm sick of driving down from Raleigh.

So I think WN will have to be considered for CHS, GSP, BIL, CLT, TYS, MYR and etc. WN have to try to beef up more specific new routes to be added from PHX-ALB/JAX/FLL/RSW/BOI/GEG and etc. It will have to take the advantage of WN to get more new routes to be added. It's extremely importance for customers who likely to get announced more cities sometimes in the future. I haven't hear a rumors for which the routes to be announced from FLL-Caribbean or Latin American. Please do it for lonely passengers who likely go to Caribbean or Latin American, too. Please stepped it up to gets 5 more new cities to be announced in 2010. Please do console up for me soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding.

once again i see dulles is left out of the loop. what is wrong with people in dallas? do you know realize the benefit of dulles? people in dc are willing to pay to fly out of dulles then drive over the bwi. you have said before you don't make money on some of the flights and that's why you got ride of the mco/tpa/las routes, but how about actually marketing your dulles service. i have lived in dc for 3 years and have only ever heard a commercial about dulles service once, and that was for the new denver service, which is going so well you added a second denver flight. i have literally heard hundreds of bwi commercials how about marketing your dulles service? don't complain you're not making money when you don't do anything about it. if you actually have a phx non stop from dulles and market it, it would go as well as your new denver service, i guarantee it. how about possibly st. louis from dulles seeing american no longer does that route.

I am currently a student at the University of South Carolina at Columbia and would LUV for Southwest to start flying out of Columbia. As many others have already commented there are no other options to fly Southwest unless I want to drive at least two hours away. My family use Southwest a ton and I could only imagine how many more times I could fly home (Chicago) if Southwest flew out of the area. Not only is there the campus with tens of thousands of students that need to come home ALL the time, but it is the capital, has many air force bases in the area, and would be a great location to fly out of for the surrounding area as well. At the very least some kind of service in the general vicinity would be nice. Thanks!

love to see southwest in palm springs even just a few routes into major cities. THis is a great airline and would love for them to fly into and out of PSP. Not many options now from this airport and to fly southwest passengers must drives a few hours away.
