Join in on the fun as we celebrate Shark Week’s 30th anniversary.

Shark Week is almost here, and this year it’s sure to be even more fintastic. The iconic television event is celebrating its 30th anniversary, and Southwest Airlines is proud to partner with Discovery Channel once again to commemorate this impressive milestone.

Shark Week 2018 will showcase all-new shark stories through eight days of television specials. The annual franchise will use innovative technology to showcase some of the world’s most unique species. Shark Week content will air on Discovery Channel from July 22-29.

Southwest Customers will be able to access an early premiere of “Great White Abyss” through the Southwest Entertainment Portal onboard all of our WiFi equipped aircraft. This episode highlights Mexico’s Guadalupe Island, which is known as a hot spot for Great White Sharks.

Customers can also tune-in to live Shark Week content as they fly to their favorite Southwest destinations. In addition, Passengers will have the opportunity to enjoy three previously aired episodes, including fan favorites “Shark Trek,” “Nuclear Sharks,” and “Sharks and the City: LA.”

The fun doesn’t stop there! Two lucky Shark Week fans will get much closer to the jawsome action thanks to this year’s Dare to Dive sweepstakes. Southwest Airlines and Discovery Channel are teaming up to send a winner and a guest on a five-day Great White Shark cage dive adventure with Islander Charters. The all-inclusive trip will take them from San Diego to Guadalupe Island, Mexico. Enter the Dare to Dive sweepstakes at www.Southwest.com/sharkweek.

The fleet includes five aircrafts, each displaying custom artwork honoring a species of shark often showcased in a Shark Week episode. You can visit FlightAware.com from a desktop device to spot the Shark Week fleet via custom-created shark icons, which have replaced the site’s traditional airplane icons.

Each shark-themed aircraft’s information page will showcase a custom Shark Week logo as the aircraft flies throughout the Southwest system through August 31, 2018.
