Six hundred thousand. Can you imagine the many ways we can make a positive difference in the lives of others with $600,000? Each year, the LUV Classic charity golf tournament and party raises donations for Ronald McDonald Houses across the nation, which allows Ronald McDonald charities to continue making a difference in the lives of critically ill children and their families. This year’s event raised more than $600,000 for Ronald McDonald House charities- a staggering amount crucial to the success of the organization.

As a Community Outreach Team Member for Southwest, I have the privilege of planning the annual LUV Classic golf tournament as well as managing Southwest’s partnership with the Ronald McDonald House. Volunteering regularly at our local Ronald McDonald House has helped me understand how crucial these donations are to the homes. From funding repairs to taking care of families, Ronald McDonald charities rely on donations from generous supporters to continue providing a home for families when a loved one is receiving the care they need.

Each year, Southwest chooses local homes across the system to receive the donations. This year’s contributions will be distributed between Ronald McDonald houses in Dallas, New York, Fort Lauderdale, Washington DC, Spokane, Buffalo, and Reno.

The LUV Classic is successful thanks to the support of our more than 100 sponsors and vendors, and of course, the help of more than 230 Employees who lend their time for the cause. Your generosity has put caring at the FORE-front in our communities, and we couldn’t do it without you! Over the past 27 years, Southwest has donated more than $13 million to Ronald McDonald House Charities, and I believe our partnership will allow us to continue working together to change the world one family at a time.
