Compared with February of last year, U.S. airlines have eliminated 27,500 jobs from the industry — a drop of 6.6 percent.
In February 2009, the passenger carriers had 391,700 employees working in the U.S., down from 419,200 for February 2008, according to a new report from the U.S. Department of Transportation.
