Southwest Airlines Launches Charitable Check-Ins Using Facebook Places

The holidays are a wonderful time of the year for people to reflect on their fondest wishes – for themselves and others – and to join in the season’s precious spirit of giving.

It’s the Season of Wishes® at the Make-A-Wish Foundation®, but our staff and nearly 25,000 volunteers across the country are making children’s wishes come true every day…one every 40 minutes in fact. We grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions only through the generosity of people and companies who donate their time and resources to make our mission possible.

This holiday season, we’re proud to team with Southwest Airlines in a unique promotion that uses the Facebook Places application. When travelers check-in at Southwest airports using Facebook Places they can give the gift of travel to these courageous children.   For each check-in Southwest Airlines will donate $1 in travel to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, up to $300,000.  To learn more about how to participate, click here:  www.southwest.com/fbplaces

Nearly 70 percent of the wishes we grant involve travel. Whether children wish to go to a popular theme park, travel to a captivating destination or meet a favorite celebrity, airline tickets are critical to get them to their wish experiences. We appreciate the support of Southwest Airlines and everyone who takes part in the campaign for helping to share the power of a wish®.
