What do cars, coolers, and the famous Southwest Servant's Heart have in common?  Southwest Airlines Employees delivering Meals on Wheels, of course!  On June 8 in typical Texas fashion (100 degree weather, that is), more than 400 Dallas-based Employees loaded up 126 cars and spread out across Dallas County to Share the Spirit and deliver food to people in need.

While Southwest has participated in the Dallas Volunteer Nursing Association (VNA) Meals on Wheels program for eight years, this is only the second time all of Southwest’s MOWers, as they are LUVingly referred to at Southwest, joined forces to deliver as many routes as they could cover on the second annual ‘Blitz Day’. The event was a display of Southwest’s ongoing commitment to serve the communities where both Customers and Employees reside.

The Meals on Wheels Blitz Day is also a great way for Southwest Airlines to show their continued support of organization and friend, VNA Meals on Wheels.  Many of the routes covered by Southwest Employees on June 8 are usually delivered by paid drivers. By volunteering to deliver these routes, Meals on Wheels can use the money saved to add new clients and increase its reach across north Texas.

We’re excited that our second annual Blitz Day was such a success, and we look forward to continuing this great tradition of sharing our Servant's Hearts with our hometown communities.
