The American Meteorological Society (AMS) has recently awarded our very own Chief Meteorologist Rick Curtis with the award for Outstanding Contribution to the Advance of Applied Meteorology. This award was given to Rick for his innovative contributions to the advancement of meteorology in the airline industry, significantly enhancing Safety and efficiency of operations.
Receiving this award is a great accomplishment for Southwest Airlines, and Rick continues to pave the way in aviation and weather. His involvement in industrywide efforts and his willingness to make changes to further the advancement of our weather technology places Southwest Airlines as a Leader in the aviation and meteorology industry.
Along with his contributions to our industry overall, Rick leads a small, but mighty, Team of Meteorologists who are heavily involved in our day-to-day operations. This Team monitors the weather nationwide and provides our Leadership Teams with strategic forecasts to help with operational decisions, along with supporting a number of departments Companywide.
Rick is a great example of how innovation and strong Leadership can further advance Southwest Airlines as an industry Leader.
