Greetings from Denver, and a big thank you for allowing me to post about Denver Day of Rock. If you’ve found my entry, perhaps it’s because you have plans to visit Denver, Colorado, the greatest city on the planet, sometime in the near future. If those reservations fall sometime between May 28, or 29, then move closer to the computer screen because I have some insider information that you need to have. It’s only four words, but they are the only four you need to know:  Denver Day of Rock. The Mile High City has so much to offer guests that it mathematically cannot all be done in one short visit. That’s the beauty of this city. Don’t fret, I’m about to give you the short and sweet version of what to do: visit the mountains; visit some breweries; visit some historic western relics; and finally, make sure you are on the 16th Street Mall in Downtown Denver beginning at 2:30 PM for the Second Annual Denver Day of Rock. Hosted by Concerts For Kids, a Denver based non-profit organization that is committed to raising funds and awareness for a variety of local children’s health and education programs, this FREE music festival is sure to rock your socks, all while contributing to the children of our community.

Never heard of Concerts For Kids? Well before you jump to the lineup paragraph, take a moment and see what we’re all about. Concerts For Kids was created by Walter and Christie Isenberg in 2004, with the vision of enriching the lives of children by raising much needed funds and awareness for local organizations. With humble beginnings and hosting a benefit concert featuring Earth, Wind & Fire, the Denver non-profit has grown exponentially in just a few short years to include: Community Day, a day of service in the Denver community that now boasts 800 volunteers working for 6 hours at 42 non-profits to improve facilities and ensure day to day operations run more smoothly. In addition, an organic Urban Garden in downtown Denver provides local teenagers a safe haven to learn about horticulture and grow their own produce. These are just a few of the many projects Concerts For Kids has going on, and to learn more, visit concertsforkids.org. Now, on to the MUSIC!

Our lineup is stacked, with national acts such as: Five For Fighting, Fishbone, The Fixx, The Romantics, and Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers. If local flavor is your thing, don’t worry, we’ve got you covered with Colorado mainstays: The Northern Way, Angie Stevens, Coles Whalen, The Railbenders, and many more. Twenty bands in total have signed up and are eager to rock the Memorial Day skies. You may be saying to yourself, “all of this, for FREE?” Well believe it or not, it’s true, and in addition to being FREE, patrons will be able to enjoy interactive video game booths, Midnight Gaming Championship, SkateLegends.com demos, food, and plenty of fun for everyone.

The best part is, not only are you able to enjoy some of the world’s best music, but all the proceeds raised during the event benefit over 40 child-focused, non-profit organizations in Colorado…and we have multiple ways for you to help!  As an individual, you can upgrade from going to the Day of Rock for free to ROCKSTAR status for only $25, which gives you an unprecedented access to the festival.  You can also visit the Bud Light beer garden, purchase commemorative merchandise, OR become a corporate sponsor – all of these options raise much-needed funds that benefit these organizations, who work tirelessly to provide a better quality of life for the children of our community.  Make sure to check out our store at DenverDayofRock.com for more options.

So grab some sunscreen, lace up those shoes, and make your way down to the 16th Street Mall for a rockin’ time. Still not sold? Need some more info? We got plenty of information outlets for all you web-heads. DenverDayofRock.com or ConcertsForKids.org are the web sites you need to visit.  In addition, follow Concerts For Kids on Facebook and Twitter at www.twitter.com/ConcertsForKids for the latest updates, giveaways and steps you can take to help. Volunteers are always welcome! We promise it will be a Memorial Day to remember. And make sure to stop by the Concerts For Kids’ information booth and say hello. Thank you to all involved with the event and a big thank you to Southwest for not only being the official airline of Denver Day of Rock, but for allowing me to share this information with you.
