Southwest Celebrates a Milestone in Reno-Tahoe--20 Years of Giving a Lift to Northern Nevada

There's nothing like a parade to get everyone excited for a big event.  But have you ever seen a parade move through the middle of an airport terminal?  It probably wouldn't surprise you to know it's all for Southwest, the largest air carrier in Nevada.

As part of a celebration marking 20 years of serving Northern Nevada through Reno-Tahoe International (RNO), the airport held a parade of tourism industry professionals this morning to show just how many jobs and people are impacted by the success of our service here.

Besides our Southwest Employees, including six RNO originals, parade marchers included the University of Nevada Spirit Team, McQueen High School Marching Band, and other tourism industry professionals who recognized two decades of "giving lift" to this winter sports paradise

If it sounds like I'm a little biased, I have to tell you my time here as a Station Leader in the mid-1990s left me with some of the best memories of my professional career at Southwest.  The legacy lives on as our Team here delivers operational excellence every day, and they make me even more proud to be an Officer at Southwest, especially as we prepare to celebrate our Company's 40th Anniversary next year.

Our Culture Team was also out in full force, sharing the celebration with our Customers on the first flights of the day and feeding our Employees during their breaks.  Good food is at the heart of so many great memories, and our People are Sharing the Spirit across Northern Nevada by pairing up with the Evelyn Mount Community Outreach Food Drive to provide year-round and holiday meals to hungry families.

Congratulations, Team RNO on 20 great years, with more to come!
