Southwest Swag...

2As I sit here recuperating from some surgery, I get to enjoy looking at my Southwest Airlines swag shelf.  This  bookshelf is in my living room, and it is filled with Southwest Airlines stuff!  The stuff includes things that I have received for my birthday, my Southwest Anniversary, Christmas, and even a couple of things that I've bought off eBay.  I have the bobbleheads, cups, glasses, coffee cups, and hand-blown, painted Christmas ornaments.  I have a signed SWA Basketball (signed by all the Officers), a cookie jar, a bank, a memory box, and dominos.  The SWA Anniversary and Superbowl Coke Bottles, the SWA phone, and many other things are also displayed.  On top of that,I have a lot more SWA swag in my closet and probably need to get another shelf but just haven't taken the time to do it. SWA Stuff1DSC00304.JPGDSC00302.JPG Looking at this shelf makes me happy, it is like a history of my life at Southwest Airlines.  It also makes me wanna get healthy quick and get back to work.  I really miss not being out there because I love being able to give a piece of my heart; a piece of my soul; and for Customers like Kim Seale, sometimes even an inch of my hairline!!!  I hope to see you all soon on another Southwest Airlines flight! It's posts like this that serve as a reminder why I have applied for my dream job. Hope you get well soon. And maybe one day I can have a room of SWA swag as well. 😉

Wow, USS Blog Boy, It's hard to imagine a huge ship like the Nimitz being tossed around by the ocean. Maybe you should have kept the airsick bag from your last flight? Blog Boy

USS Blog Boy Back in the day, heavy seas were the best. When you got off your watch and the TV or Break room was crowded all you had to do was open a can of oysters, and presto plenty of space for you to relax after a long watch. hahaha

Blog Boy - I was speaking hypothetically in regards to Kim. I haven't had the pleasure of meeting Kim as of yet, but am looking forward to the day that I do. 🙂

My first thought was, "Captain, you've got to get a life." But then I started looking closer at all the cool "stuff" you have. A Colleen Bobblehead? I want one of those! And the dominoes - way too cool. And if I could get the SWA basketball, I know what my grandkids would be shooting hoops with. (Granted, if it had Herb's signature, they wouldn't be allowed near it.) You know, some of these items would do very well in airport gift shops.

Hey James! Cool stuff!! And get better soon! And Jim, you can get SOME Southwest swag at our Freedom Shop online--http://www.swafreedomshop.com/--though, admittedly, you won't find a Herb autographed basketball or Colleen bobblehead....have fun shopping anyway! And to our friend USS Blog Boy: Just think, only a couple weeks to go and you'll be back in sunny, warm, and (very) landlocked New Mexico, eating chips and salsa and green chile enchiladas with a big glass of iced tea at Sadie's (or any of your other favorites eateries...). I am soooo jealous!!

Phil - I've been to SWAFreedomShop.com. Oh, who wrote that terrible HTML code? Try it in Firefox, the thumbnails are full size giants and you have to scroll left to right. Then try it in IE, look at an item and hit your "back" button. Whoops, the page is expired, go back the the main menu. Just an observation, it is an awful site to navigate around in. And they know it - on the top of each page it says, "Note: While in the catalog order pages, using the browser back key could produce undesired results" And of course, none of the stuff is as cool as James' great collection. What ever happened to all the plastic boarding passes? I'll bet they are in a closet somewhere. You guys should sell them for $2.00 with all proceeds going to the Ronald McDonald House. I would buy a few. You could charge $3.00 if you want a particular number or color. Maybe $25.00 for one signed by Herb, Colleen and Gary? I'll give the Ronald McDonald house $100 for four signed plastic boarding passes - two with number 11 and two with number 26. Does anybody remember the ones in California that were die cut in the shape of the state of California? That was way back when.

James, Wait til you see the new salt and pepper shakers sold in the Freedom Shop. They are the cutest! You must add them to your collection! I too love your phone! Wouldn't a little airplane cell phone be adorable? I think SW should issue those as part of the uniform to all Flight Attendants. Great Marketing idea... we'd be walking around the Country with these little Southwest Airplanes on our ear for everyone to see!

Morning Folks - I've had that phone for years and I have no idea where I got it from. I hope you all have a GREAT week! James Malone MDW FA

Jim, I got a chuckle out of reading your February 27 post. You know, it is both a blessing and a curse to have a bobblehead in your own likeness. I had to move mine out of my line of sight because it was creepy watching my own head bob up and down. Of course, I delight in giving the Herb bobblehead a swift thump from time to time, and I think these things may have a voodoo-like quality. I can only imagine what our Employees do with my bobblehead! Colleen

I'm glad you had a chuckle Colleen. If I had to wager a guess, the Employees of SWA keep your bobblehead is a safe, warm and dry location and treat it with respect. This sure is a fun blog, you never know what's going to happen next!
