I’m so proud that for the past three years, Southwest Airlines and AirTran Employees in Atlanta have given their time and hearts to Project Open Hand, a nonprofit organization that provides home-delivered meals and nutrition education to those who are chronically ill or unable to prepare meals for themselves. More than 5,000 meals are delivered each day in Atlanta and surrounding communities.  People from all Departments at our station help package and distribute these meals, contributing approximately 40 hours each month. This year, Project Open Hand honored Southwest Airlines with the 2014 Community Spirit Award for the Warrior Spirit and Servant’s Heart shown by our station. As a token of gratitude for the many hours of work that our station has volunteered, we were recognized at Project Open Hand’s charity event, Party in the Kitchen, where 40 Employees volunteered their time. ATL1 Party in the Kitchen is Project Open Hand’s annual fundraising event featuring music, cocktails, and cuisine prepared by chefs from the Atlanta area, with silent and live auctions benefiting the nonprofit.  Atlanta Employees came together to make this event a success, helping with setup, cleanup, and everything in between. The sold-out party raised $435,000 that will help Project Open Hand support its mission of providing community nutrition programs. We LUV seeing the impact we make together in the Atlanta community, and I am so proud to work on a Team full of Heart.
