Texas Weather

I did not grow up in Texas, so I am constantly amazed by Texas weather. Recently it was 32° on a Friday and 64° on Saturday. In less than 24 hours, the temperature doubled. This drastic temperature change creates a few problems. Texans must always closely pay attention to the weather. No one wants to be wearing shorts on a day with 32° or a wool sweater on a day with 64°. I must admit I've been victim of both a time or two. Traveling can create the same situation. This August, I visited San Francisco, I was not prepared for the chilly summer nights. My Coworker and I were waiting for a few friends in the hotel lobby before the Giants game. After watching a few locals leave in wool coats and scarves, I decided to change into something warmer than a T-shirt and shorts. When we arrived at the game, fans were prepared with beanies and blankets. While I was glad to be in jeans instead of shorts, what I really needed was my winter coat. How confusing...cold weather in California during August. Since my trip to San Francisco in August, I check the weather before my trip. Southwest has made it a little easier for our Customers to check the weather. Southwest has teamed up with NBC Weather Plus to offer weather reports on southwest.com. Before your next trip, know before you go.

When it gets unusually warm this time of year in the Sooner State, it never lasts long! 😞 It only lasts a day or two. Recently, we had two days of temperatures in the 70s! 🙂 I LUV Spring & the warm weather! It's my favorite season! If we could just have a year of Spring, or 6 months of that & 6 of Fall, that would be great! Joke for the day: "Knock, knock!" "Who's there?" "Bias!" "Bias who?" "Will you please bias (buy us) some peanuts & candy corn?" I thought of that by my very own self! Well, I better go to be now. I took my nightly bed time medicine & am tired. Zzzzzzzzzz. SWA LUV! 🙂

Texas and California are the only two states that I can think of that will have below freezing temperatures and snow in one part of the state and sun and 80 degree temps in another part--all on the same day.

Hollee, I grew up in Colorado and I am also amazed--and awed--by Texas weather. In Colorado, we used to say, "If you don't like the weather, wait a minute, it will change." As soon as I moved to Texas, I realized this actually applies better to Texas! I once went to bed when it was in the fifties, then woke up around four to discover the temperature had risen by ten degrees--in the middle of the night! My neighbors and I dress in layers and peel as the day goes on. We have light layer mornings and heavy layer mornings. You get the picture. I appreciate services such as Know Before You Go as I travel frequently between both states and it is good to know how to dress!

Hollee, It isn't just Texas that has "unseasonal" weather. Like you, I had a travel experience once which was shocking. Our family gathered in the downtown high-rise condo of a relative living in Seattle on a Fourth of July to watch the fireworks being shot over Puget Sound. Based on his advice, we brought coats, but I just "knew" we wouldn't need them in July! Well, he was correct -- even wearing coats and gloves, we could only stay outside on his balcony for a couple of minutes at a time before having to retreat back inside. The wind chill coming off of Puget Sound directly into our faces made that the COLDEST Fourth of July I've ever experienced, and one which I'll never forget! Today in TUL it was in the 60s & very windy. It's supposed to storm tonight & we're in a T-Storm Watch until 2 am. Tomorrow, it's supposed to snow! Oh, my. I'll definitely take thunderstorms over snow any day! I LUV storms-really! :) Thought for the day: Why are they called Swedish meatballs? Did someone in Sweden come up with them? SWA LUV! 🙂

Like the old Dairy Queen commercials used to say, the weather can change in a blink of an eye. I've seen the temperatures be 90+ one day in February to drop to 20 the next evening.
