I'm still loyal to the airline that would serve our town for years without being subsidized...

William, I checked into this for you, and all positions for ECP have already been filled--and all but one of them--with internal transfers. If you are interested in a career with Southwest, you can go to southwest.com, and click on Careers (It's on the bottom of the home page). Good luck to you! It's a great place to work!

That is weird Sandy cause one of the things that was said by southwest they would be bringing jobs to Bay county. Your comment says the opposite by bringing people already hired by southwest to PCB and opening jobs in other areas. If our local papers hear this that not going to be good PR for southwest.

Mr. Beighle, I don't think there is a contradiction because we are bringing jobs. First off the 21 or so Employees that are transferring in will be part of the community, their salaries will go for housing, food, clothing, cars, gas, utilities, so that is a direct contribution to the economy and supports other local employers. And then second, you have to remember that Southwest will bring a lot of visitors to your community. Those visitors will be renting cars, shopping, dining, drinking, renting sports equipment, and spending money so many other ways. And because our fares are low, they will have more money to spend upon arrival. All of this creates jobs and brings money into the local economy. And, some of those folks may like your area so much, they move there, so you have additional money being spent which creates even more jobs. Brian

Brain, I agree with you to a point but a lot of us were under the impression that Southwest was going to hire some of the workers form the local area. You see with the Northwest/Delta merger a lot of us lost our jobs with ASA and Pinnacle. I for one was hoping to get hired. Southwest missed out on hiring some well trained people from the ramp on up to management. We are talking about people who has 10, 15,18 plus years of airline experience. It is a shame that they did not decide to hire from that pool of people.

Perhaps that is 10, 15 and 18 years of bad habits.

What I want to know is why has Southwest cut back on the flights they had to and from the Baltimore/Philadelphia area. Seems like Summer would mean more flights, not less.
