In baseball—like life—there are sunny days and rain delays, pitches over the plate and curveballs.  As a paramedic for nearly 30 years, a life-long Atlanta Braves baseball fan, and a lung cancer patient, Customer Frankie Bailey has seen his share of wins and losses, but he had never experienced anything quite like the reception and hospitality that he received from Southwest Employees at MCO. Frankie’s friend and fellow paramedic, David Minor, contacted Southwest to tell us that he was planning to take his friend on his first flight ever to Orlando to watch an Atlanta Braves spring training game and to ask if there was anything that we could do to make the trip one that Frankie would never forget. Customer Relations & Rapid Rewards Representative Sarah Janes was touched by what Mr. Minor was trying to do for his friend and former colleague.  She sent an impassioned plea to Leaders at MCO, requesting that they find some way to pay tribute to Frankie for his many years of service as a first responder. MCO Station Leader Sean Fairbanks rallied his Team, and they hit a home run for Frankie and David!  From providing Frankie with an autographed Atlanta Braves baseball and VIP backstage passes to meet the team to sending him off with a water cannon salute and photographic souvenirs, Team MCO really hit it out of the park! In a Facebook post, Mr. Minor thanked Sarah Janes, Emerging Leader Development Program Manager participant Brian Baumgarner, Team MCO, and the Flight Crews for all that they did to honor his friend.  As Sarah Janes put it, this was their “chance to give back to someone who is an experienced ‘giver’ already.” In the game of life, Frankie Bailey is a most valuable player, and it was our pleasure to give him a standing ovation.
