Congratulations! I remember an FA telling me last year when I arrived in CMH for my second CSA interview that SWA was going to open an FA base at LAS; I couldn't remember if she'd said it would be in 2007 or 2008. Now I know! *Has party & passes out cake, candy corn, peanuts, Just Plane Crackers, pretzels, & punch.* Thought for the day: Why are they called peanuts when there are no peas in them? SWA LUV! 🙂

Leah, I just have to say that as I read through your last comment I got my tongue twised from the alphabet soup! I'd like to take a crack at your question, and suggest that they're called that because they come two peanuts to a pod. Much like peas come many peas to a pod. They obviously don't look too similar, but you can see at least some. Oh yeah... Congrats to the new Vegas Crew Base folks!

Hmm, Rebecca! That's a good thought! 🙂 Like I said, I knew about the FA base; I just didn't know it was for pilots, too! 🙂 Yea! Thought for the day: Why is it called candy when there are no cans in it?

I have been selected for a training class for FA, although not yet been scheduled. Can any one tell me if Las Vegas is going to be considered a junior base for us newbies? Thanks for any comments.

Oooooh good luck, Maureen! I don't know the answer to your question, but congratulations on the coveted FA position! I wanted to be an FA many moons ago, but I graduated just after 9/11 and got into another field. How cool would that be? An FA based in Vegas! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! Have fun in training! Nikki

Thanks Nikki, for your kind word's of encouragement. I too, wanted to be an FA for many years but life and family commitments happened. I am still pinching myself as I am 45 years old and I thought ok it's now or never! Nikki, if it is really in your heart and soul. GO FOR IT! Good luck in all you do. Maureen

Thanks Maureen! I'm in the same boat! My kids are almost 1 and 2, so it's not in the cards for me now. Maybe one day! I wait tables as a side gig during the holidays and I LUV it. LUV customer service and taking care of people - not exactly FA, but there are definitely some common aspects to those jobs. Have a great weekend, and let us know what happens! Nikki 🙂

Hi, I'm a reporter from The Baltimore Sun. I'm writing about Las Vegas being an especially popular Thanksgiving travel destination this year. Anyone know anyone traveling from BWI to LAS airport to celebrate Thanksgiving this year? Thanks, Laura McCandlish

Hi Terri, Although I do not have an answer to your question regarding when SW will be again hiring FA's, I do know that I was interviewed at the end of July and I am in the SW FA pool. I do not expect to attend training until sometime early next year as Dallas was training those selected through June in October. Good Luck to you. Maureen

Hello everyone! My name is Donna and I am scheduled to start my training sometime in the first quarter. Needless to say I am very excited to become a FA, as I live in a small town where the only jobs are in factories, and a career like FA is a dream come true! I have a quick question for any FA veteren. Being in the small town we are in, we will have to relocate. We being my husband and 3 children. Since I got the news that I was in the "pool", my husband has been eagerly searching the internet looking for a nice place for us to relocate to. He thinks he found what we are looking for, in Tulsa OK. It seems like a nice town with plenty of positions for his trade, and lots of things for the kids to enjoy. So my question is this, if we were to relocate to a non-hub city like Tulsa, how would that work for me as a FA for SW? I'm guessing that I would have to leave a day before my scheduler would call to travel to my hub, and stay over night at a crash pad. Am I correct in assuming this? Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone for thier time, and I'm looking forward to meeting all of you! Thanks a bunch, Donna
