Walt Disney World's Showcase

Today was my first day at Walt Disney World's Resort Showcase where they introduce media, partners, and friends to what's new and happening at the Walt Disney World Parks and Resorts.  The day started with a Tweet Up, Meet Up where fans of Southwest and Disney World got together for breakfast, music, and, of course, rapping.  David Holmes, our amazing rapping Flight Attendant, made up a rap using fun facts about the guests at the Tweet Up - what a hit!  Next, I was invited to tour Animal Kingdom using the Verizon Mobile Magic app.

The Verizon Mobile Magic App uses GPS to find your location in the park and then helps guide you to attractions, restaurants, shows, and, of course, while at Animal Kingdom--animals.

It also gives you information about wait times and the  Fast Pass times for various attractions.  So, being super directionally challenged, this was kind of awesome.  I tested it by finding animals.  I first found the Gibbons apes- did you know they live in mated pairs and family units? Neither did I.

The next stop on my animal mission was Asian tigers, which were absolutely gorgeous!  One of the larger ones ran at the glass before turning away at the last second - I think he was trying to scare us and maybe some of us flinched.  The Asian Tigers are three pairs of siblings.  Fascinating!

The final animal I saw was "Donaldasauraus" in Dino Land.

What a day!  If you aren't on the Verizon network, a more basic version of the app can be downloaded at m.disneyworld.com.  Thanks to Disney for hosting us.  There will be more exciting things happening, so look for a post from me tomorrow.
