I leave in two days to go home for a visit but my drivers license is one year and two months expired but I do have a non-expired passport is this an acceptable form of ID at checkpoint

Someone at your work told you a passport isn't acceptable identification???
It's the MOST acceptable form of ID.
I'd pick smarter friends.
