Backpack Personal Item

Hi! I have an average-sized backpack that I want to use as my personal item on my flight. The website says that the dimensions must be less than 8.5 inches in width, 18.5 inches in length, and 13.5 inches in depth. My bag is smaller in length and depth (aka height) than the maximum allowed, but the width at the top of the bag is 9 to 9.5 inches. It can be squished a bit and I'm not going to be filling it to the brim, so I think that it could fit underneath the seat, but I haven't flown in a few years so I'm not sure. Would this bag still be allowed? I don't have any other backpack that I can use.

Nobody is going to measure your carry on bag, if you can fit it under the seat then you're good.
