Can I pay for an upgrade at the airport/gate with Apple Pay?

I don’t have my physical card on me and as I’m aware, the only way to get an upgrade is through the airport at the gate.

Also, would anyone know typically how much it would cost from Long Beach to Honolulu?

There is no "typical cost." as fares vary by day and fare type. You can find what you want for the days you want to travel by checking the low fare calendar.

I do not believe Apple Pay will work, I think they need to swipe the card.

The upgrade was $50 from OAK to OGG a couple weeks ago, and it sold out well before the flight.

I'd be surprised if they had contactless/Apple Pay. I've never seen any signs of it.

I don't think so at the gate either. 

Maybe you can give a fellow passenger the cash and they would swipe it for you.
