I’ve booked a flight for myself and a friend at the same time and was just wondering how check in will work in this situation. Do I simply check in and that gets us both our boarding numbers? Or will I have to ask my friend to also be ready to check in separately to make sure we get boarding numbers that are close to each other? They do not have an account on Southwest, if that makes any difference.

If you have only one confirmation number, you'll be able to check in all passengers at the same time, and then print out each boarding pass.
You should have your friend sign up for a Rapid Rewards account, then add their number so that they receive points.

Awesome, thank you so much for your reply! I have told them they should but they like to procrastinate.
