I have been trying to add Early Bird checkin and it keeps coming up with an error message. I have tried different phone apps and different browsers on the computer and it's still the same error. Also, I tried different credit cards and that didn't make a difference, either. Anyone ever had this issue?

If you are A List the system will not let you add EB..
If you are less than 36 hours before flight time , I suspect you cannot add EB, but I am not certain of that. EB allocates boarding positions 36 hours before departure time.
Do either of those apply to you?
