Not allowed to board

Upon informing SW staff of a medical condition exasperated by a mask, the only option presented was a credit/refund. Apparently people simply can not travel if they have a medical disability.

Southwest has a policy that is among the strictest in the industry. There are no exceptions to the mask policy, which is widely posted online. See here.

Southwest also has a health declaration process in place where customers must agree they are well and understand the requirements to fly at check in.

Thanks for confirming that SW will not allow people to travel if they have a medical condition. Do you have links to other rediculous SW policies? Are other clothing required at other certain times or locations? What if the moon is full?

Don't be ridiculous.

Search the web and you'll find other stories of  airlines enforcing their "no mask, no fly" policies. Stories about Jet Blue and United come to mind over the last few days.

This is true -- right now, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, people cannot travel on Southwest and many other US carriers if their medical disability restricts the use of a face covering.

I applaud Southwest for enforcing the wearing of masks onboard. The science is clear that mask wearing helps prevent the spread of corona virus, especially in situations where social distancing is not possible, such as on board an airplane.

Unfortunately, for anyone who can't or who refuses to wear a mask, air travel is simply not safe for them or other passengers at the moment.
