Recently we have received reports of https://southwest.com being unaccessable due to the access denied error.  I have had very little luck in regards to finding a resoultion or even a root cause for this error.

Research has led to knowing the site blocks some incoming international traffic, however this is domestic in regards to being located in Ohio.

Testing has been done on multiple devices mobile and PC with the same results.  Side note Windows 7, 8.1 & 10 have been tested and  SSL/TLS v1.2 isn't an issue.

I notice at the bottom of the website there is an icon that "Indicates external site which may or may not meet accessibility guidelines".  Does anyone know what pertains to these guidelines?

Exploring the Internet has proved to be unfruitful and looking to see if anyone can assist or lead me in the right direction.  In addition reached out to customer support via telephone, however that is primarily for booking.

Thank you for your time.

Hello.

Sorry to hear you are having problems. However, this is a customer to customer site, so it is unlikely your problem will be solved on these forums.

My adv ice to youi would be to e-mail the airline. Click on 'send us a message" - third item from top left under e-mail us.

I have the same problem in France. In April, I was able to buy a ticket from my mac/safari. Now, from the same device/network, I'm denied access to southwest.com! Neither can I use the app on my iPhone/iPad! However, if I turn wifi off on my phone and connect to internet through 4G network, I can use the phone app. This is better than nothing but, obviously, not a very satisfactory solution.

This problem (see below) persisted and its very disappointing that the IT people has not it.

Access Denied

You don't have permission to access "http://www.southwest.com/flight/lookup-air-reservation.html?" on this server.

If you are in a location other than one served by the airline, you may not be able to reach the website because the airline has made a decision to not make the website available in your country.

Apparently Southwest has analyzed the situation and decided the costof making the website avilable interntionally exceeds the reveneue/profit it would get from selling tickets in those places.

If that's you, your options are to use a US based VPN or use the cell app in CELL DATA mode and not wifi.

If you are in a country that Southwest provides service, the suggestion is that you clear cookies and history and try again. For people in the US, the situation occurs almost certainly due to a   problem with the users' computers and not the website.
