Is there any advantage to purchasing an early bird boarding pass upon ticketing or can you get the same number if purchasing it at a later date? I assume it is assigned by ticket price. Please advise me. Thanks.

Earlybird gets the worm. Based on what has been seen it appears your place in line is determined by when you purchase EBCI, not price of the ticket.

Positions are based on the timestamp of the EBCI purchase (with Anytime fares ahead of Wanna Get Away).

Thanks for the official wording @chgoflyer
One would have to be slightly crazy (IMO) to purchase an Anytime fare AND Earlybird instead of just buying a Business Select Fare. Typically the minimal pricing difference would make that a no brainer.

Yeah, I thought it strange when they added that distinction. 😉
