I have a flight on Southwest Airlines at 5:30 in the morning on Wednesday, July 27 from RSW, Fort Myers Florida. I’m wondering how early I can check my baggage and what time security opens at the airport

You should plan to arrive at the airport no later than 1 hour prior to departure, although I would personally arrive 1.5-2 hours prior. You can check your baggage up to 4 hours prior to departure. Airport information is here, listing the opening times for the ticket counter to check your bags. Fort Meyers' ticket counter opens 2 hours before the first departure. TSA should open at around the same time (around 3:30 or 3:45), or earlier.

Check-in counters and baggage check can be done 2 hours prior to the first departure of the day. There may be a departure before yours so you have at least 2 hours before departure that you can check bags.
I believe the 4 hours referenced is the earliest possible time bags can be checked, but does not relate to when check-in counters open.
