Temproary IL state ID

I just got back from the SOS and getting a state ID for my (special needs) 18 year old and it won't come in the mail for 15 days, I mistakenly thought that the temporary ID would work at TSA but apparently not. We have an early bird flight on the 22nd. I tried calling SWA but the call wait time is at least an hour.  The past however many months. the SOS facilities have been slammed due to COVID and the local one burning down last year. Mixed information as to appointments/no appointments, appointments only made in person if you are there in person, waiting in lines for hours and hours (can't get off work to get there for that long), etc. So now I'm concerned that we will get there and have no way to verify his identity and will be denied entry. I plan to bring everything I can to verify whatever we need to (Birth Cert, SS card, school ID, school report cards with address, etc) along with the temporary ID. Has there been any leniency with ID with regards to COVID? What has anyones experience been with this recently?

There is leniency for expired IDs: https://www.tsa.gov/blog/2020/04/21/traveling-during-covid-19-pandemic

Additionally, there are other forms of identification that will work and, last case scenario, you can still get on a plane without an ID: https://www.tsa.gov/travel/security-screening/identification

Thank you for a fast response. He does not have an expired ID, only a temporary paper ID until the REAL ID comes in the mail. We also do not have any other forms of ID listed on that site which is why I was asking about what TSA does to verify identity without an ID.
