We will be flying to Phoenix with our 9 year old grandson June 5. Is there anything I need from his mom in order to do this or is he good to go? I wasn't sure what he needs to check in.

Solution
As long as you are flying domestically there's nothing required for a 9 year old. He may be asked to say his name, but that's it. Have a good flight.

You won't need anything to check in your grandson. One note be sure your on the same reservation or have the 2 reservations linked so you can avoid the unaccompanied minor fee.
