Using free early bird check in for someone else

I have 2 free early bird check in’s each year from my southwest credit card that are automatically refunded when I pay with my card. Has anyone tried to use those to get early bird for a companion or another person under your reservation? Does it work the same?

Yes, Chase will reimburse the charge for anyone you want. It shows up on your statement as a payment for EB and is not tied to any person's name.

Can I use them right away with new card or I have to wait for next year?

All benefits should be available to you immediately.  You can view what benefits you have used and what is still available in your Chase account on chase.com.  If you click on your account, then click the "more" option you will see "Rewards Dashboard".  It will show how many credits you have available.  I do not see where you can see this info in the app, only on the website.
