Booking a Flight

I was just wondering why a flight leaving at 9:15 am is so much more expensive than a flight leaving at 10:25 am - both are one stops (at different cities however) and on the same day. Thank you!

Prices will vary based on each flights availability. The airline has only so many tickets at a set price (fare class) and once they are gone the price will go up to the next fare class. Also if a bunch of people are flying to the connection city that can affect the price.

for example AUS to MCO there could be a one stop no change in HOU and another one stop no change an hour later in DAL the flight to HOU could be full while the flight to DAL is not full making the DAL one stop no change cheaper

Hope this helps

People will also tend to fly early if possible to maximize time at a destination, or business travelers making a same day appointment - so I do find that way early, way late, and odd-morning times can tend to be cheaper because of fewer passengers but there is definitely a prime time window that varies slightly across the nation's airports where it is more expensive due to demand for those slots.
