Does my ticket qualify for a refund?

Southwest offers three different fare types: Business Select, Anytime, and Wanna Get Away Fares. Each type has different rules, perks, and refund policies.

As pictured above, a different refund policy applies for each fare. Below are the refund policies by fare type.

 

Wanna Get Away Fare 

Fares are reusable, but not refundable. If you cancel your flight, the value of your ticket can be applied to future travel for up to 12 months from the date of purchase—not the date of travel. The expiration dates are always included in the emails we send you for booking, changing, and canceling your reservations. Please keep in mind that all travel must be completed by the expiration date.

Business Select Fare  

Refundable flights, as long as your reservation is canceled at least ten (10) minutes prior to the scheduled departure. If you cancel, you’re eligible to receive 100% of your ticket value as a refund to your original form of payment. If you used Southwest travel funds from a previous reservation toward a Business Select fare, those funds will be refunded as reusable travel funds.

 

Anytime Fare 

Refundable flights, as long as your reservation is canceled at least ten (10) minutes prior to the scheduled departure. If you cancel, you’re eligible to receive 100% of your ticket value as a refund to your original form of payment. If you used Southwest travel funds from a previous reservation toward a Business Select fare, those funds will be refunded as reusable travel funds.

 

Nonrefundable Wanna Get Away Fares Purchased Within the Past 24 Hours

If you call or cancel online at Southwest.com within 24 hours of booking, Southwest will offer you the option of refunding the airfare back to the original form of payment, or retaining the credit to be used toward future travel. If you purchased all or part of the reservation using a Southwest gift card or a Southwest LUV Voucher and cancelled the reservation within 24 hours of booking, contact Customer Relations.
