A-List and booking the next flight

I will reach A-List status on a flight next week. I have 2 more flights I need to book for next month. I want to make sure I get the 25% earning bonus points on those 2 flights. Should I wait until I have A-List to book the next flights or is the 25% bonus based on when travel is completed not booked?

Book now. Once you reach A-List, call the A-List line and have them add your status to any existing flights.

Update....

I reached A-list status, called to update my existing reservation and they had already done it for me.
