The Rapid Rewards credit cards are actually offered by Chase bank, not Southwest airlines. Chase sets the fees, but to my knowledge they have not raised the annual fee on any particular card; rather they tend to introduce a new card that has a higher annual fee and also comes with more benefits.
The Priority card is only a few years old, and in that time they have not reduced or eliminated any benefits.
