I created accounts for my children a couple years ago when we flew to Orlando. I just booked us a new flight and noticed their rapid reward points are at 0. I read that they never expire so why did it drop to 0 for the kids?

The never expire provision was added at the end of last year.
Prior to that they never expired "as long as you took at flight within 18 months of your last flight " So, if you created the account and the 18 month period ended before the policy changed, then any points in the account would have been deleted.
edit add: to correct one thing I said above - with the old rules one had to "earn points" within 18 months in order to have points not expire. One could do that buy getting hotel points, dining points, shopping points, flight points, etc.

@destinalicia And even though they expired in this case, good for you for not missing out on points by setting up RR accounts for your kids!
Happy flying!

I've done the same for my grandkids.
