Why would someone receive courtesy points on their credit card statement? Can you give me examples of what those would be for?

I received those as well. Not sure what we did to earn them, but thankful. Guessing I registered for some promotion at one point for them, but not sure.

Can you say more about what you mean by this? I do not ever recall any "courtesy" points on a credit card. I HAVE received courtesy points from loyalty programs such as airline and hotel programs.
In my experience with multiple credit card companies, courtesy points are not a tool they generally use with customers.
Now if you are talking Rapid Rewards bonus points, that is a whole other story! There are many ways to get bonus points via credit card usage and flying.

On our statement, under the SW airlines rapid rewards summary it shows:
2x pts for southwest purchases
points earned on purchases
courtesy adjustments

I think that Chase would be the best party to answer that to understand where those came from. That is a first for me! 🙂
